I ♥ abstract backgrounds

Even Ubuntu is going to ship with a Mac OS X style abstract background (in SVG format no less!). Although they seem incredibly trendy, they’ve been around a while, and to be annoyingly exact, around the time of the first iBook, Mac OS 9 shipped with a whole bunch of them. Now they’re everywhere, and here’s how to make one from scratch using the copy of Adobe Illustrator you totally paid for. In the same vein, Fyre looks pretty sweet too.

Nice. Thx. I don’t use illustrator much, but it’s one of those things I always plan to do. I’ve used it mainly for icons and the likes in the past, and doing site mockups, etc. Fyre does look pretty sweet. I downloaded a copy to my laptop about 30 minutes ago, and it’s damn easy to use. It looks like 2.0 will be capable of a whole lot more. It looks like they’re trying to go the way of Artmatic at U&I software. Artmatic Pro, is by a long shot the best cool shit generator around. It’s node-based, and can be used as a compositor. It can also sync up with audio tracks. It’s only available on os9 or OSX, but is well worth the dollars for what it’s capable of.
